NSF-Navy Civilian Services (NNCS)
Fellowship-Scholarship Program

As part of the N-STAR initiative, The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Department of the Navy have launched an opportunity for students to obtain supplemental funding through the NSF-Navy Civilian Services (NNCS) Fellowship-Scholarship Program.

The NNCS program has a one-for-one payback component, which means that for each year of support the student receives, he or she will be required to work for a Naval R&D center for a year. Upon acceptance of the scholarship the student and the university principal investigator (PI) will be required to sign a service agreement that outlines this process.   PIs are required to form partnerships with Navy scientists in order to focus the student’s research in an area of technical interest to the Navy.
