Dr. John A. Parmentola, the Army's Director for Research and Laboratory Management, believes that educational outreach programs providing learning and scholarship opportunities for America's youth are a powerful force for attracting highly qualified technical talent into the defense research community. In a recent interview, Dr. Parmentola argued that investing in future generations of scientists and engineers is a national imperative. He also drew on his own life experiences to pay tribute to the transformational role of teachers in young people's lives.
